Completed the 'Run For the Cure" 5K walk to end Breast Cancer. A sore knee and that was it. No tiredness, no losing my breath, no sore back, just a little knee pain.

Personal Information

About me

I'm getting older and I need to pay more attention to my health, especially since it has begun to decline due in no small part to my steadily increasing lethargic lifestyle.

Why I workout

I need to find a reason to workout. I've known my health issues for awhile but that has not been sufficient enough to motivate me. I dance with an Aboriginal Dance Troupe but, and I say with as much humility as I can muster, I'm very good at it and no matter my condition, I always do it well, even when I'm aching and sick. If anyone has any ideas besides the ones I've tried, I'm open to suggestions.

January 25, 2011.
It's been a long time. I finished the weightloss challenge in my organisation. I finished second across the province. I learned that competition is what best motivates me. Since the end of the competition, I've been lax in the diet. Luckily, I have a competitive co-worker who just challenged me. My juices are fired up again.

What motivates me to workout

Very little motivates me to workout. I need motivation. Something to get me going. I used to be a good athlete and required little work to get into playing shape. That was great then but now it's a curse because I never learned a training ethic.

Like I had mentioned to another Reinfit member recently, numbers seem to work for me. Being ableto develop a plan, put it into action and watch how my manipulations make the numbers move. The measurement tools on this site are gresat for watching the numbers move.

I also remember doingthings in my youth because I like feeling my body and like that i could do things that, at that time, i thought were unique. I was doing Tai Chi long before I knew anything like it actually existed. I remember playing wrestling with my cousins and being put into the Camel Clutch (for anyone who knows what that is, we are SO old) and frustrating my cousin because I wouldn't quit, it didn't hurt, I was that flexible. I could plant the soles of my feet on top of my head, lol. I think I miss being able to do that. i don't expect to get back to that, but feeling my body in the attempt I think would be great - an "in the moment" experience.

My workout accomplishments

I used to be able to Squat about 500lbs for reps in highschool. I was also very flexible. I used to be able to do Dancer Pose, Upward Facing Bow (yoga poses) as well as do a full split. I could grab my wrists between my shoulder blades - one arm over, one arm under.

My fitness goals

Recoop a semplance of flexiblity - To do a Duck and Dive dance so low I csan touch my elbows to the ground

proper posture

Strengthen my knees

get back to my Ideal weight - I'll know it because it will FEEL right (About 220 - 230)

September 1st, I started a diet programme. I've lost 11 lbs, my blood pressure is down to 119 over 84 and my resting pulse is 74. I'm feeling pretty good about that.

Chris (12 years ago)

Great to hear. Sounds like you found something that works for you.

I just myself a set of roller blades and thre protective equipment. I've never been a great skater, but I'm going to give this a try.

I just finished a two week dance tour. I got some flexibility, stamina and balance back. Shin splint was the only pain. I'm buying a Wii with the money I made along with Wii Fit. I also bought a stability ball and resistance bands for home.

Chris (12 years ago)

Awesome man. I hate shin splints. I seem to get em a lot especially when I run on pavement. Enjoy the Wii

Phil (12 years ago)

Great on all topics - except shin splints. Have a blast with Wii

Hi. I've been busy. Overwhelmed. I've had to do alot of catch-up while I was off for my aunts funeral ceremonies. In my culture, we do ten days of mourning. I'm dancing this week and next week. 16 shows in 8 days altogether.

Sorry again for your aunt. Dancing has to be good for fitness as well.

How you been? We miss you.....

I had a set back. My aunt passed on. As you can see, I'm Aboriginal. Most of our traditions involve alot of food. I literally lost my breath from having too much to eat. I'm back in Toronto so back to eating normal.

Chris (12 years ago)

Sorry to hear about your aunt.

Don't sweat the set back. They happen to all of us. Have a good one.

Okay. I'm on hold. I have an aunt dying in the hospital so between work and going to the hospital, no resal work outs, but I'm able to maintain a relatively healthy diet. I'm exhausted. Mostly just waiting and maintaining for now.

Hope you are doing well
