Down 19 lbs, only 2 were muscle. My cals were too low at the start, lost both fat and muscle. I think I am where I want to be as far as metabolism. Keeping steady at 600 cals every 3 hrs x 5 and it seems to be about right. Have to monitor the trend.

About me

Former Personal Trainer for over 25 yrs. Taught college weight training. Published new innovative exercises in Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness. I am a perpetual student of Fitness Training. I believe the best is outside the box and that steroids are for people who don't know how to train. I have found most exercise techniques are flawed and need to be re-worked. I have made much progress toward the analysis and restructuring of many of the traditional movements.

Why I workout

I used to train to stay strong and athletic. Now I workout because getting old sucks. I can either be a grandpa that tags along, or I can be the grandpa that will 'kick your Dad's ass at anything.'

What motivates me to workout

Currently a challenge. Aging 15+ years in only 5 years and losing the ability to do activities I love, I got to the point where I had to admit that this is not the road I want to go down. What good is all my knowledge if I don't use it.

My workout accomplishments

Gained 15lbs of muscle in 10 weeks right out of Highschool... drug free. I was almost in better shape at 40 than I was as a highschool athlete; definitely bigger and stronger. Surpassed my lifetime LBM goal and am curious at how big I will get in the future. Gaining more lean mass than ever is not a problem at 50 appearently.

Reviewed blood tests with doctor today. Good news. Physiological age and risk factors trending back down. I told her all I needed was to get back to the gym. Hard work and sweat > Pharmaceuticals.

Successful week with 6 of 6 workouts. With a strong baseline established, next Month will hold steady on lifting resistance, and concentrate on progressive resistance cardio alternating with a progressive Tabata sequence.

Rather than adapt my exercise to my HR, I make my HR adapt to my exercise. Tabata compliments my other progressive cardio by pushing the top end of my HR.

So far, so good. 4 down. It's taken all year to get up to this level and number of days, and 2 weeks into finally being consistent, I went out of town. Luckily I am at a detrain on resistances this week. Thanks for the support.
