you have to work harder to stay in shape from what my brother says! Cant eat as many calories b/c burning them is more difficult.

Well, considering one of my heroes didn't start working out until she was 56 and she's now 73 or 74 [was 71 when this was written] There may be a difference but not much if you are willing to do the work.

I remember seeing her picture in a magazine one of the women I worked with was reading and all I could think was what a beautiful woman. I didn't know she was into bodybuilding and running at the time.

Make sure you scroll down to see her pictures.

I'm 43 and I'm almost assuredly in the best shape of my life. I mean, it helps that I'm a personal trainer and fitness is my life. But 40 is just a number. It is more or less no more meaningful than 36. As we age, things will slowly stop working as well. As Newton's 2nd law of thermodynamics states "The entropy of a closed system always increases." But anything specific to the number of times you've gone around the sun are psychological only.
Just look at Jack Lalanne.

Well as you know, I'm 50 and in the best shape of my life. As I read all the other responses to this I thought..yup, you're all right. Mostly, it's hard work and committment to better yourself each and every day. Yes, it helps that I'm an Instructor and it's my job to keep in shape. But even Instructors can fall off the wagon. The older I get the quicker I can put the 65lbs that I lost now 4 years ago back on. All it takes, is one bad week of eating poorly. So in the process of aging, I'm a fighter to the end. It really is only a number and I refuse to give in to it!!!!!
